MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Colquitt County Arts Middle formally opened the “Rooftops by the Seaside” by Mary Wicks Electronic Artwork and Photograph exhibit on Friday.
The exhibit capabilities 41 parts by Wicks. Her operate is described by the arts middle as “beginning with a number of, and usually unrelated photographers or items of photos that come from everywhere. The subjects of those exact same pictures could be of something or any object… (the) images are taken and rendered as summary artwork.”
Wicks began her creative career as incredibly early in her life.
“I had constantly drawn since I was a little lady,” she explained.
At first born and raised in Minnesota, Wicks and her husband not too long ago lived in Cumming, Ga., before transferring to Quitman. According to the arts middle Wicks has educated with environment renowned artists Sebastian Michaels, Caroline Julia Moore and Dave Cross.
She has been doing work on the “Seas and Boats” parts given that 2019 which had been typically highlighted in reveals at the Wiregrass Gallery in Thomasville.
Immediately after being contacted by the arts middle in Oct 2020, she “started setting up immediately” and commenced making items exceptional for the show.
“The summary and rooftop parts have been a little something that I wished to get the job done on and it’s the end result of a good deal of difficult do the job,” said Wicks.
Many of the parts highlighted are watercolor paper with foam again, but Wicks takes advantage of a multitude of papers to print her artwork which include Fuji Luster Foam and Foamcore, canvas, Fuji matte and watercolor paper.
“I have desired watercolor paper but I use Artisan H.D. Printing out of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Aaron Brothers out of Michael’s in Valdosta for my printing and framing and I am often satisfied with the get the job done that they do,” she reported.
The show will run until finally June 11 and all of the pieces on exhibit are offered for buy.
