Remembrance concert to honor Edward Berkeley subsequent 7 days

The Aspen Songs Competition and School will honor and keep in mind longtime opera plan director Edward Berkeley with a live performance at the Benedict New music Tent at 7 p.m. Aug. 7, the organization introduced Monday afternoon.

Youthful performers from the 2021 Aspen Opera Theatre and VocalARTS plan will share will work in remembrance of Berkeley at the cost-free celebration. The display will operate about 75 minutes with no intermission.

Tickets are not essential attendees will be asked to respect protocols and vaccinated and distanced seating sections. The event also will be livestreamed on the Aspen New music Competition and College Digital Stage and on the organization’s Fb Web page. Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS co-administrators Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers will carry out an opening selection solely for the livestream.



“The youthful artists in this summer’s Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS method proposed a concert to recall Ed, which include works and tasks reflecting his legacy,” explained Tunes Fest president and CEO Alan Fletcher in a ready assertion. “It will encompass the knowledge, humor, drama and musical attractiveness that had been hallmarks of his work.”

Berkeley died abruptly of coronary heart ailment at the age of 76 on July 17, hrs just before a general performance of “The Magic Flute” at the Audio Tent the general performance went on, dedicated to the director.



He spent 40 seasons on the school at the festival, mentoring generations of singers each and every summer and bringing his athletic phase route to classics and new operas alike.
